On October 30, 2024, a review meeting was held at Kohuwa Resort in Balitara village, Nalbari. This meeting was organized by Assam Agricultural University and Anajori Development Society to assess the progress of the Women’s Empowerment Project, which aims to empower women through Assam hill goat rearing. The Vice Chairman of SITA and former MP, Narayan Chandra Borkotoky, attended as the chief guest.
About 150 enthusiastic men and women from Nalbari district participated in today’s meeting, along with key personality such as Dr. Deepak Bhuyan, the chief scientist from the Goat Research Center under Assam Agricultural University ; D.S. Hajare, a research officer from SITA; and Dr. Prashanta Pathak, the chief scientist of the Nalbari Krishi Vigyan Kendra. The event was felicitated by Matiur Rahman, President of Anajori Development Society, where Narayan Chandra Borkotoky encouraged the women present to use scientific methods of goat farming to become more self-sufficient.
During the meeting, discussions were held on the economic empowerment of women through local, high-quality goat farming, the importance of goat vaccination, breeding the certified Assam Hill Goat breed, and scientific practices. After the meeting, officials observed the goat farming activities of project beneficiaries in Balitara village and visited the model goat farm in Guwakuchi village.
