Deworming-cum-Treatment Camp Organized for Assam Hill Goat at Barkhanajan Village, Nalbari

As part of its ongoing efforts to improve Assam Hill goat rearing, the Goat Research Station, Burnihat, organized a Deworming-cum-Treatment Camp at Barkhanajan village in Nalbari district. This initiative was conducted under the ICAR-All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Goat Improvement and aimed at enhancing the health and productivity of indigenous goat breeds through scientific intervention and community outreach.

The camp was organized under the expert guidance of Dr. Arpana Das, Professor of Animal Genetics, College of Veterinary Science, Assam Agricultural University. Her leadership and technical insights played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the camp.

During the program, local goat rearers received free deworming services, basic veterinary treatment for their animals, and practical demonstrations on scientific goat management practices. The outreach also included awareness sessions on disease prevention, nutrition, and the importance of timely veterinary care for maintaining herd health.

This initiative is a part of the broader mandate of the Goat Research Station to promote sustainable and scientific goat farming practices across Assam. By empowering rural livestock farmers with knowledge and services, the program aims to improve the economic conditions of marginalized communities while conserving the genetic potential of the Assam hill goat.
